Description:

The Smarter Way to Activate Stage Targets

The DAA Target Activation Pod (TAP) is a revolutionary target release system developed for IPSC, USPSA, or other dynamic shooting competitions. Designed to replace traditional mechanical pull cables, the TAP dramatically reduces stage setup time, improves reliability, and delivers consistent target performance throughout an entire match.

Conventional activated targets rely on long mechanical cables routed from a trigger point—such as a door, window, or falling steel target—to the activated target. While effective, these cable systems are slow to install, difficult to reset between shooters, and require continual maintenance. Dirt, cable stretch, damaged guide tubes, and increasing friction all contribute to inconsistent target timing and operation as the match progresses.

The DAA Target Activation Pod eliminates these problems entirely.

Installed directly beside/under the activated target, the TAP contains its own powerful release mechanism and is triggered either by a simple electrical switch wired to its terminals,  or wirelessly by the DAA EDGE Shot Timer. With no long cables to route or maintain, stage setup becomes faster, resets are simpler, and target operation remains precise and repeatable from the first competitor to the last. The feedbag feature informs the Range Officer when all his targets are reset, confirming to him the stage is ready.

The TAP is a fully self-contained, battery-powered unit (4 × AA batteries, not included) housed in a rugged, weather-resistant enclosure. It is suitable for operating swingers, sliders, drop-turners, disappearing targets, and virtually any mechanically released target system.

Two Activation Options

1. Wired Activation

The TAP can be activated using its integrated trigger terminals. Simply connect any momentary contact switch to the two external terminals, including:

  • Magnetic door or window switches
  • Pressure (step-on) switches
  • Tilt switches mounted behind falling steel targets
  • Custom-built trigger devices

Closing the circuit instantly releases the target.

2. Wireless Activation with the DAA EDGE Shot Timer

Unlock the full potential of the Target Activation Pod by pairing it with the DAA EDGE Shot Timer.

Using DAA's long-range BT communication, a single EDGE Timer can independently control up to five Target Activation Pods, opening entirely new possibilities for creative stage design.

Programmable Delayed Activation

Assign an independent delay to each Target Activation Pod in 0.1-second increments.

For example:

  • Target 1 releases after 1.2 seconds
  • Target 2 releases after 2.8 seconds
  • Target 3 releases after 4.0 seconds

Create challenging tactical stages, without mechanical pulleys, or complicated linkage systems.

Manual Sequential Activation

Alternatively, pair up to five Target Activation Pods with a single EDGE Timer and manually release them one at a time using the timer's LIGHT button.

This gives the instructor complete control over the activation timing and makes it easy to run demonstrations, training drills, or custom stage scenarios.

Built for Match Conditions

Every aspect of the TAP has been engineered for reliability on the range.

The weather-resistant electronics compartment protects the control system from rain and dust, while the robust mechanical housing is designed to withstand years of match use. Batteries can be replaced from the top-mounted compartment without removing the unit from the stage, minimizing downtime during competitions.

The mechanical release assembly is easily accessible for routine cleaning and lubrication, ensuring smooth and reliable operation season after season.
