The race master holster is a great design/concept. One holster with inter changeable blocks, great idea. I like everything about the system except one thing. The part of the holster that attaches to the belt is to thick and if you have it right in line with the gun, your thumb is going to make contact with it when you draw the gun. I have an old limcat holster which works great, and has clearance in this area. ( you might like to take a look at one, and make a design change) The only reason I am changing holsters is I would like to be able to use different guns without having to have a rig for each gun, or have to rerig the belt each time I want to use a different gun. I managed to get the clearance I needed, but the way it is adjusted is a little in orthodox. One way to modify you holster to eliminate this problem would be to make the shaft that the holster is affixed to longer. It's the shaft at the bottom of the holster.

Competitive Edge Dynamics sponsered the 2017 World Steel Challenge Championship and I won the Alpha-X holster off the prize table!!! My favorite holster. I had to order the insert to fit my STI and was amazed at how quickly I received the part in the mail. Qudos to the CED team for quality work and great service. Also thank you for supporting the sport and your sponsoship to the World Steel Championship!!!

I purchased the Race Master Holster for my S&W revolver with the Combo Muzzle Support Revolver Assembly + Body Adapter. Assembly and adjustment for fit was easy. I used it in my next ICORE Match and was very pleased with the draw and ease of replacement of the gun. I experienced some looseness of the hanger assembly at the belt attachment but was able to secure it without removing the entire belt rig. I had found that the rod holding the muzzle support is barely long enough for my 6" barrel so I inserted a spacer between it and the body adapter to give some more length to the rod. This solved the issue. I had also lost the lock washer between the hanger and the belt attachment. I was able to tighten the hanger sufficiently without the washer to finish the match and later was able to get a couple of replacement washers at my local hardware store. Lastly, I also purchased the insert block assembly for my 1911s to use in other matches. I found that the side of the locking slide had to be sanded down to eliminate a canting and overly tight fit of my Kimber 1911s when the block was inserted into the Race Master. I figure that these minor issues are just part of adapting a new device to my specific needs and are not a design flaw. The ease with which I was able to overcome them is a testament to a good basic design and quality product. Definitely 5 stars!

US Patent No. 8720754.
All Race Master Holsters now ship in the Magnetic version only.

Since its introduction in 2010, the Race Master Holster has established itself as one of the leading holsters on the competition circuit. It is the choice of many of the current champions in our sport, who choose it over other holsters for its unique features and outstanding performance.

The Race Master holster’s hanger and body are made completely from machined aluminum, providing a solid and rigid platform, which locks up securely in the chosen position and keeps your pistol secure and stable. The vertical rod and ball joint create an endless range of adjustment possibilities, allowing each shooter to set the holster to best suite his body type, draw style and preference. With the Race Master holster you don’t need to adjust your draw to the holster, it adjusts to you!

Unlike other holsters, the Race Master is designed to give you access to almost all the adjustment screws while you are wearing it on your belt. Without removing your belt, you can adjust the height of the gun and the distance from your body, and even unlock the ball-socket hinge and adjust any angle of the holster. This is a huge advantage in setting up your holster just right.

Pistol Retention
Thanks to the patented magnetic locking mechanism, the Race Master Holster offers you a secure lock/unlock safety lever as well as a responsive “click feeling” when the gun is seated. The magnetic slide lock assures the locking tooth is lifted all the way to the top of its range, allowing for easy reholstering.
The spring-loaded lock/unlock safety lever is conveniently positioned just below the trigger guard, enabling you to release the lock with an upward flick of your finger as you close your hand around the gun. The spring-loaded lever immediately snaps into place, either locked or unlocked, ensuring secure positioning.

Advanced Belt Attachment
The Race Master belt-hanger is sleek and modern, showing off the pattern and color of your shooting belt. But it is designed for more than looks alone.
The hanger is attached to the belt by means of two spring-steel flat clasps that are screw-tightened on the inside of the shooting belt. This design prevents any separation between the inner and outer belts, ensuring that the Velcro layers firmly hold together at this crucial point. The range of tightening provided by the four screws guarantees that you can tighten and lock the holster rock steady on any 1.5 inch shooting belt. This design allows you to assemble your holster on your belt at the designated position without struggling to slide a tight-fitting belt-hanger the length of your belt. The lack of any bulk on the inner side makes this hanger more comfortable for extended wear than any other comparable product.

Gun Compatibility
While the Race Master Holster is gun-specific, it is designed to enable you to switch from one gun to another without having to buy a complete new holster. All you have to do is change the relatively inexpensive locking-block assembly, available separately. This flexibility is also a great advantage for resellers - they no longer need to stock a range of different models, as they can simply change the locking-block assembly as needed.

Read the following instructions carefully before using this holster or Insert Block:

  • Never holster a loaded firearm without first engaging its safety.
  • Check periodically to ensure your safety is functioning correctly.
  • Never disengage the safety of the firearm until well clear of the holster and the muzzle is pointing down range.
  • Make sure you are fully familiar with the correct use, and adjustment of your DAA Holster before attempting to use it with a loaded firearm.
  • Make sure that you have the correct holster/Insert model for your type of firearm.
  • Do not use a holster that is unsuited to your firearm, as that could result in unreliable retention or release which could lead to a fatal accident.
  • Never use a trigger shoe or a widened trigger with this holster.
  • Double check that the retention and release work well, particularly if any modifications have been made to your firearm.
  • Care must be taken to ensure the gun is placed properly when returned to the holster. It if it is not positioned correctly, it will not be held securely and may fall out.
  • Never holster the gun quickly or with force, as that increases the chance of making contact with the trigger.
  • Any adjustment or modification to the holster design may render it unsafe or cause malfunction.
  • Take care that the firearm is not dislodged or knocked when holstered, particularly when the holster’s safety lever is unlocked. As this holster has no muzzle support, take care that the muzzle of the gun is not bumped upwards, as this may dislodge the gun from the holster
  • Keep your fingers well clear of the trigger when holstering and drawing the firearm.
  • The holster should be locked when running or jumping with a holstered gun, or you should keep your hand on the gun’s grip to prevent it accidentally falling.
  • Handling a loaded firearm, and drawing it from a holster is inherently dangerous. You do so entirely at your own risk and responsibility.
  • Liability is limited only to the replacement of this holster or parts thereof. No additional warranties are expressed or implied by the manufacturer or the distributors.

I have one of these for the Sig P320 and one for the Phoenix Trinity (for my Atlas Titan). These are awesome. Nothing else to say. Holds my heavy 2011 with ease. Allows a fast draw and locks up secure. All the things a good holster should do!

I love my Alpha X holster. I have used it with my various airsoft Hi Capa pistols, and it worked with all models with no problems. I recently changed my gun to a Tangfolio, and resisted the option of purchasing a holster of a different make. I bought the magnetic assembly for the Tangfolio square trigger guard and it duly arrived. The gun would not lock into the holster, and after some checking it was because the trigger guard was too wide and the gun did not sit down enough to activate the mechanism. I reluctantly resolved to return the insert and order the alternative maker holster. Having thought about this I decided to watch the various DAA videos, get out my trusty Dremel and get to work. After all, the block was a reasonable price and the worse thing that could happen would be I ruined it. After some serious fettling the gun now slips nicely into the holster, locks in place - though I have left the lock just a little on the stiff side so the it will wear in naturally. It would have been nicer to have the gun fit from the start - as you can now see where it has been worked on - but I can now use my Alpha X for my new gun and all is well.

It works great. I have the blocks for both 2011 and Tanfoglio Match. I recommend the muzzle support for the Tanfoglio because of the round trigger guard, and it doesn't need to be adjusted because the 2011 is the same length.

General questions

Q. Will the Glock insert fit all Glock models?
Yes and no. Not trying to be evasive, but here’s the deal: The RM holster requires a very precise fit to the trigger guard of the gun. We have found that amongst the various Glock models, and sometimes even in the same model, with various generations of molds, there are slight variations in the trigger guard dimensions. Our only option was to keep the dimensions tight, to fit the smallest Glock trigger guard we could...

Q. What kinds of belts can I fit the RM holster to?
The belt holder is designed to accommodate belts up to 39mm (1.5”) wide. All belts in this category may be used. We have tried the holster on the DAA belts, CR speed, H&S and a few others. The retention plates at the back can be screwed down to grip tightly even thinner belts, so the holster can be held solidly. 2” belts cannot be used, unless you cut out a piece from the belt, narrowing it down to...

How to assemble your hoslter

The holster is designed for use on dedicated shooting belts, which are rigid and of solid construction. (DAA Competition Belts or similar).

Loosen or completely remove the four M4 round-cap screws which hold the two Belt-Hanger Retention Bars (1) in place, position the holster on your belt, and re-tighten the four screws. Do not

If your shooting belt is much narrower than 1.5”, you may need to use...

Magnetic Insert

To dismantle the magnetic insert, follow these steps:

1. Remove the insert block from the holster by removing the two small M4 screws from the back of the holster

2. Using a punch and hammer, push the two steel pins from the front of the block towards the back (push from the side with the gun type engraved). These pins may be tight.

3. Once the pins are out, the plastic wedge holding the 2nd magnet will come out. Make sure the magnet does not fall...

Custom Fitting

Some shooters have experience a problem with their Race Master fit to their pistols. The following should help you resolve this:

First – check to see that the fit to the locking block is good. Remove the slide lock from within the block – and assemble the block into the holster without a slide lock. You will need to remove that long M3 screw from the back, and the slide lock will slide out upwards. Holster your gun and see that is slides in and out loosely. If not – you...

Gun specific questions

Q: I have a Sig Sauer x-six ppc with 9 mm and with a .22 barrel, as well I have a doctor mounted on the xmount, does the holster fit?

Yes to all fits, EXCEPT the X-mount insert will only be suitable for the X-Six with the X-mount installed. If you are to shoot this gun without the mount, please select an additional X5 insert.

Q: Would the Race Master fit the Tokyo Marui Hi-capa Airsoft pistol?

We do not have any insert that...

Maintenance and Care

Your new Race Master Holster is constructed of several precisely machined moving parts designed to work together and fit snugly to the trigger guard of your firearm. As with your firearm itself, every effort should be made to keep the holster well maintained, clean, and dust-free. Using a dust cover over your firearm and holster is a good practice that helps keep both your gun and holster clear and clean.

Periodically and more often in dusty conditions, remove and clean the Insert...

Q. What kind of screws is used on the holster, and where can I get spares?
The screws used on the holster are all Metric, M3, M4, M5 and M6 stainless steel screws. All screws can be tightened using 3 hex keys, sizes 2.5, 3 and 4mm.
We will Shorty be offering a set of replacement screws as an accessory item, as well as hex key sets, as supplied with the holster.

Q. Is it possible to get custom logos or a name engraved on the holster body?
