So far its worked great. About 3,000 - 4,000 primer through. For gold colored primers like winchester I sprayed a cardboard box with silicone spray and shook the primers around in the box (found this on internet). For chrome primers like CCI I didn't need to do anything. I think I've had a couple...

Works fast, until the last 5 to 50 primers that won't fit into/through the slots are the only ones left. Kept full, or with more than 200 primers in the hopper, this collator sure beats anything else I've used. And it keeps up with a hand driven 1100.

I used this product over the last two weeks to prime 38K 9mm. You have to find the sweet spot with the number of primers and the depth adjustment of the plate. Once that was dialed in it worked well. So far I have only identified 4 primers that went in the wrong way. Pay attention to the warning...

DAA PRIMER-PRO Collator

(89)
Manufacturers: Double-Alpha Academy
PRIMER-PRO NOTE
Some types of primers are tacky/sticky. These may not slide well through the slots in the Primer Pro Disk or down the Exit Ramp. This can lead to a slow output rates and/or poor exit ramp/hole performance. One simple solution to this issue is to apply a little silicon to the primers before loading them into the Primer Pro, as shown  here.

Another effective solution is to periodically clean/lube the Primer Pro plastic parts using a plastic cleaner/Polish or dry lube, such as Pledge, Cockpit spray cleaner or the likes. As shown  here.

With one or the other solution applied, all types of Small Primers can successfully be used.

The Primer-Pro is available for small primers only!

Description:

US PATENT 10,718,599

--------

The PRIMER-PRO by Double-Alpha is a unique new approach to handling primers, and the solution reloaders have been waiting for!

As any reloader knows well, manually filling primer tubes can be the most time-consuming and aggravating step in the whole reloading process, and few good automated solutions exist.

Until now!

The PRIMER-PRO by Double-Alpha is an innovative patent-pending design which departs from the traditional vibratory bowl solution used by all other automated primer tube machines. The PRIMER-PRO uses a collator type solution where the primers are allowed to exit the bowl through 20 precisely formed channels, ONLY if they are orientated in the correct direction (Anvil side up). If they are Anvil down, they will not pass through the channel, and rather slide back into the bowl as their channel reaches the top of the rotation, to enter again later, correctly oriented.

This rejection-type design makes it practically impossible for a primer to enter the output channel if incorrectly orientated, making this device extremely reliable. During development, we ran many successful tests in which 100 tubes were filled (10,000 primers fed) without a single up-side-down primer!

As the primers slide down the covered output-chute, they pass through an optical sensor which counts them and stops the collator once 100 primers have been counted into the primer-tube. The electronic processor board also monitors the sensor and is programed to stop the collator if, for whatever reason, primers hang-up on the exit hole and stack up along the ramp. The collator will be stopped before the primers stack all the way up and jam the collator. In such a case, the LED will flash quickly to indicate there is a problem. Once cleared, pressing the start button again will allow the collator to run and the count will continue from where it was stopped. Or alternatively, a long press on the button will start the count a new.

One of the most innovative design solutions of the PRIMER-PRO is the Output Actuator Arm, which is activated by a lever system off the Timing Disk at the bottom of the Collator Assembly. This Output Actuator Arm slides the primers from the bottom of the ramp slide, moving them over to above the output hole, holding them there for a split second to ensure they are static, horizontal and stable, and then retracting to allow the primer to fall cleanly down into the awaiting primer tube. This dynamic solution for the exit hole greatly reduces the chance of primers hanging up while exiting into the tube, a problem common with other automated primer fillers.

The PRIMER-PRO is currently available only for Smaller Primers, and handles Small-Rifle or Small-Pistol Primers equally well. A Large primer version may be offered in the future.

One Magnetic Collar for a Dillon Primer Tube is included with the unit. A PRIMER TUBE IS NOT INCLUDED! Since the PRIMER-PRO can refill a single Primer Tube faster than you can use the previous 100 primers in any reloading press, only one tube is strictly necessary.

However additional Magnetic Collars can be purchased separately, for those who prefer to fill multiple tubes before starting their reloading session.

The unit is powder by a 12v DC power supply (dual voltage, 110-230), which ships including a suitable European and US prong set (included). The power cord is 2 meters (6ft) long, and includes an ON/OFF switch in the cable.

NOTE: Primer tube not included.

Saw this on a video a couple days ago and thought, "what the heck?" Ordered it. As always, fast service from DAA! I am not a patient person so before I started fiddling with it I read (and followed) the directions, which included a suggestion to watch a video. I ended up watching 3 videos and felt comfortable. Took the system to my reloading room and without doing anything dumped 400 primers in the hopper. The system just didn't seem right. Slow. So I emptied the hopper, took the machine apart as described and waxed the friction areas and travel points with Johnson's Paste Wax--I didn't have anything else. Put it back together and ended up with a filled tube in 37 seconds! I didn't refill the hopper but continued filling tubes. The next tube was a little longer as was the third. The 4th was over 2 minutes. First tip--read the directions, watch the videos and wax the system. Second, when you are testing the system be sure to put the cotter pin in the primer tube before you hit the button or you'll enjoy the opportunity to pick up dropped primers. Negatives, the angle of the primer tube. Also no ready way to mount the system to a bench (yet). The clicking is loud but I think it serves as an alert that while I am loading the system is filling my tube. I use WSP primers and it worked. I'm an old fart and not sure that I'll live long enough to get my money's worth but glad I got it. Bottom line--I would recommend it and I would buy it again. Alex Ragulsky--Broomfield, Colorado

I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 only because the initial set-up of the collator took me longer than I would have liked. I did read the instructions in advance of using it, and the first attempt to load Tula primers took several minutes to complete. I followed the instructions to slightly loosen the 5 screws that hold the funnel to the plate, and found that it helped very little - and it allowed a primer to be loaded into the tube upside down.

I was disappointed in the product's operation, so began reading threads about it online. One of the things I discovered was a suggestion to clean the plastic parts that the primers would come in contact with using Pledge furniture polish. After fully disassembling the unit, cleaning the parts with Pledge and carefully reassembling the unit, I was very pleased to see primers filling the tube in about 30 seconds! To date, I have run about 700 primers through this, all with good results and no flipped primers.

I would suggest that the suggestion to clean the parts with Pledge furniture polish be added to the manual as a troubleshooting step.

I have mixed feelings on this item. It seems to work well but it does get a little dirty after a few thousand primers and then then it needs to be cleaned or the primers will backup and not go into the primer tube.

It also leaves a small number of primers in the sorting system, a real pain to clean out if you have to change primer types.

It is all plastic and a very light. It has to sit on the edge of the table so it can get knocked of. Guess how I know that. It also breaks easily. Given the price I replaced it with the Dillon primer machine. This is cheaper but all it took was one tumble off my reloading bench and it is broken. Since it is all plastic there was no fixing it so it is a throwaway. The arm where the primers slide down cracked and it changes the feed angle.

Not sure the cheaper price was worth it. The Dillon takes up less space and is easier to use. The Dillon is more expensive.

[DAA Reply]:
Dear Scott,
The Primer Pro is designed to run with 300-400 primers in the bowl. For best output speeds.
If you do want to empty it completely, it’s a simple matter of lifting the bowl off and tapping it upside-down over a tray or flat box until all the primers are out. the bowl is easy off/easy on the center shaft.
I am sorry you broke the output ramp when knocking it off the table. If you email us for support, we will gladly send you a replacement part so you can repair your Primer Pro. changing the ramp is not too difficult and there is a video tutorial I can share. It is designed to stand near the edge of the table, which allows it to be shorter/lower and therefor easier to fill. When not in use it can be moved back, with the primer tube removed.

So far I have only identified 4 primers that went in the wrong way. Pay attention to the warning lights. If it goes off dump the tube reset and start again, chances are you have an upside-down primer that made it down the ramp. I had to clean it after about 25K because it was getting gummed up but it was fast and worth the down time. The major down side is the unit is loud. The constant clicking loading up primers was actually louder then my machines running on autodrives. Overall good product and I would recommend it.

On my first attempt at using this unit i was dissapointed and was sure i would send it back for a refund. Primers would gather under the plate and lift the whole primer plate off the unit and up the drive shaft. After some investigation and after calming down over my initial dissapointment i realized what was happening. There was a large accummilation of card board dust in the primer channel at the bottom of the base unit. I used a Q-Tip saturated in One Shot case lube and cleaned out the primer channel and allowed the One Shot to completely dry. I also ran some through all of the primer channels and lightly coated the bottom of the primer plate, wiped off the excess and let it all dry. On my next attempt Federal small pistol primers filled my tube in less than a minute and i have ran over 5000 primers since without a hiccup. I also backed off of the screws under the plate a quarter turn each. I am very happy with how this works now and it will run out the last primer in the hopper without any problem what so ever. Pledge may work for this but i didn't have any so Pro Shot case lube was what i had onhand. It works also. Pro Shot dries quickly and forms and very good layer of slick, clean lubricant for the primers to travel on. I also put some on the ramp and now the primers are flying into the tube. I will purchase another and if i could give it more than 5 stars i would. Great product once you figure things out.

I was a little worried when I purchased the Primer Pro Collator. The early reviews showed problems with some of the primer brands. Luckily it looks like they have worked out all of the problems as mine has been nearly perfect. I have ran CCI and Winchester SR and SP primers through the machine and only had a few come out upside down (around 3k primers). Overall it is a much better system then anything else I have tried and the cost has disappeared from my mind as soon as I started loading with it. Only negative is the machine always leaves a couple of primers left after filling the tube. These have to be cleaned out after I finish loading. As I typically load 500 to 1k at a time, this isn't a big problem as cleaning out 4 or 5 primers after loading 500rds is minor.

This is a great product at a reasonable price!
I have now loaded over 15,000 rounds since receiving my DAA Primer-Pro Collator. I have had only one reversed primer which might have been the result of a bad transfer to my Dillon. Have have two of the Dillion primer collators. They are noisy and very difficult to set-up. The Dillon is good at collating large primers but with small primers it is not consistent enough for my needs.
Here are the negatives, none of which I found to be a serious problem:
1) The angle of the hopper requires you to be diligent when loading to avoid spillage. Some type of a funnel would be nice.
2) The angle of the collating tube requires you to locate at the edge of a bench.
3) The last one or two primers generally do not drop into the collating tube.
All three of these negatives are the result of design compromises which, considering the accuracy of the device and its low costs, I probably would made the same concessions.
Finally, all collating tubes are not the same. I found that many of my Dillon tubes did not work with the same consistency. That's on Dillion NOT DAA

I bought one of these when they were first released. It came and I spent 4 hours trying to get it to feed primers. It would not do it. I tried CCI, Tulammo and Winchester. Nothing worked in it and tech support could not tell me how to get it to work. I returned it and they gave me a refund.. Now on 7 - 2020 I decided to try one again. I received it 8-6-2020. Right out of the box if fed CCI primers problem free. So I tried Tulammo which happens to be the "stickiest" primers I have and they still fed through it although really slow. I tried wiping the bowl down with pledge and ran a cotton swab moistened with pledge through the slots the primers slide into and Tulammo primers started feed as well as the CCI primers did. In another video, I saw someone tumble his primers in a box that was sprayed with silicone spray. I am not sure I want to coat my primers with silicone spray as wouldn't that defeat the friction fit in the case a bit? The plastic construction still gives it a fragile feel.
