Unique Design with a Purpose
Because V.I.O. is pretty much the founder of wearable video, it seems fitting that they finally release an HD version which, like their previous models, embodies their signature, adaptable and versatile body styling. Designed and built as 2 separate pieces, one the camera head and the other the recording unit, there is no longer fear of camera shake and jittery video! This result comes from the fact that the recording unit is worn on you - away from the location of the camera head, which could be in a place that experiences heavy jolting and movement, such as on your shooting cap. Having the recording unit mounted to you means that your body absorbs the majority of any incoming shock and vibration… thus keeping your video nice and still. The POV.HD also comes out of the box with a remote control, offering record, tag and stop functions. Now now matter where you have the camera mounting, controlling it is a snap.
In addition to this, the POV.HD was designed to be totally rugged and able to hold up to some abuse. Its body is dust proof and shock proof, while it boasts a water depth rating of up to 1 meter for up to a 30 minute period. This makes it an ideal camera for rain, snow and overall wet conditions.
HD and Wide Angle = Real LIfe Recording
Of course the V.I.O. POV.HD records in HD! 1080p HD to be exact at 30 or 24fps, while looking through a 142º wide angle lens. This provides superior, clean, crisp imagery while taking in the entire scene, so you miss nothing. If a less wide angle is what you seek, swap down to 720p, in this setting you are recording at 60fps through a narrower 95º field of view. Lastly we have the SD mode, recording in 480p at 30fps, footage is caught at a nice wide 120º field of view. No matter which setting you choose, you are hooked up with an eagle eyed view over the entire scene.
Storage Space and Sound, oh my!
Ok, here is the deal, the POV.HD has so many great features, but I don’t want to drown you with too much info - so we’re going to quickly burn through some of them… First, storage space… well, this guy can accommodate up to a 32GB SD card, which means more video for you! In 1080p and 720p you can record up to 4.33 hours of video to a 32GB card, whereas in 480p SD mode you can store up to 16 hours! Wild!
Sound:
What more can I say but this: omnidirectional microphone! This means you are getting all the sound you want, with a vast reduction of wind noise, interference and distortion… that is what I call a useful feature. To boot, you are also set up with a built in speaker for immediate audio playback, so you can be sure you said what you meant to say.
