I wanted to point you at a review I've written for TPS in my shooting
blog. I've also cobbled together a spreadsheet of the "Deciding what to
practice" section that begins on page 92 of the book - I've been using it for a year and half or so, now, and its helped me out tremendously. Hope you enjoy!

Hi Saul,
Just a quick note to say 'Thank you' for all the tips in your book 'Thinking Practical Shooting'.
In a previous email I told you that it has improved my shooting and now the proof is there. At the Victorian IPSC State Championships on the weekend I shot 86.20% against Brodie McIntosh and the rest of this countries best shooters. I have never been this close to them before. I also said in my previous email that my goal was to be the National Open Senior Champion in 2007, well I am now the Victoria Open Senior Champion for 2007, well on my way to my goal!!
The match was the biggest in Australia outside of our Nationals with 187 entries, so it was a good indicator of how my performance has improved. Again thank you for the great tips in your book. I will be in touch with Greg and Jayne Moon shortly to purchase more of your professional and VERY helpful shooting books and DVD's.
I hope to be able to tell you in June that I have fulfilled my goal and have become the National Senior Open Champion.
Until then it's practice, practice, practice.

Just read your book, "Thinking Practical Shooting" and found it to be THE best book about IPSC shooting I have ever read!! It has changed the way I now approach my training and by using your techniques I can already see an improvement in my shooting, I will be the 2007 Australian Senior Open Champion at our 2007 Nationals as a result of this book!!

Just wanted to say thanks for writing Thinking practical shooting.
I bought it last fall and read it a lot during my off-season winter training.
I believe that specially the parts regarding positive thinking helped me to achieve my first big goal, i just won my first National championship and got my first Presidents medal.
Next goal is already set, to be chosen to Finnish National team (modified) for the 2008 World Shoot.

I just wanted to write you and tell you how impressed I am with your new book. I purchased it two weeks ago and I can attest to how informative it is. I started putting your principles in action for my practice sessions and could tell results right from the start.
Last Sunday I went to my local monthly match. I shoot IDPA and am classified Master in SSP and ESP. I've finished second at this range several times but have never been able to break through to the top. There is a lot of talent at this shoot so you need to have your game together.
Well, at the end of the day I was on top! What amazed me was not that I shot well but at how easy it seemed to be. I never thought I was "shooting over my head" so to speak. I repeated to myself all through the match that I was shooting great. Also, I visualized myself shooting the stage before I did. I was only down 3 points for the whole match!
Your book has really motivated me to improve and more importantly, how to do go about it.

First of all thanks for your prompt delivery of the dvd's and your FANTASTIC book. I admit that I received it at my working address and have difficulty not reading it completely on the boss's time!
A lot of what you write, I can relate to, and some of it I actually teach my rifle students? Still, having it together in a book and especially well written with lots of good stories is worth every euro spent!!!!

Thanks, Saul. Enjoyed your World Shoot updates and recently began reading ?Thinking Practical Shooting'. I believe you have found and filled a void - I just love the book. I've already found it extremely useful and I'm looking forward to putting some of your match preparation tips into good use at Area 5. Unfortunately, I was nearly a senior when I discovered shooting and already a senior when I discovered practical shooting. I've been a USPSA member for nearly two years now, and like many others, I had no idea how to shoot swingers. After reading your chapter, I went out this weekend for a swinger practice session. Wow, what a difference. My confidence has been boosted and I can't wait to shoot the swinger stages at Area 5. I feel like I have an advantage now!
I bought a shirt a few weeks ago while I was enjoying your World Shoot updates. I know it's not much but it's one small thing I can do in appreciation. And I'll be sure to wear your shirts at matches in the near future to give you a little advertising!

_________________________________________________ Hi Saul, I have to say that out of all coaching books, this is one I always go back to. The section about mental preparation there is written in a way as if Saul himself was there next to you, coaching you.
It is rare to find someone from our sport writing in such details about everything that goes through a competitor's mind while competing, and this one has surely helped me "survive" some major matches.
