The more encouraging it is, that one of the most successful IPSC shooters in the world shares his knowledge with other shooters in several courses. Caliber has looked over Saul's shoulder during his basic course "Technical 101". Who would be better suited to teach the complex demands of the IPSC sport than one of the most successful shooters in the world. An argument that made sense to the first participants of a course in Germany as well. So, on January 12th, ten more or less experienced shooters came together at the "Magnum" Shooting-range in Düsseldorf to improve their sportive abilities under the supervision of Saul Kirsch. Working for Israeli weapons manufacturer BUL and currently living in Holland, Saul Kirsch founded Double-Alpha Academy in 2002 to train other shooters. Before conducting the first courses, he travelled the world to perfect the skills of the best IPSC-shooters, like ten-times champion Jerry Barnhart. He also impressed other top-shooters like IPSC European champion Angus Hobdell or the young shooting star Max Michel with his good analytical abilities and the mental handling of the IPSC sport. After a thorough introduction to the security rules of IPSC shooting, Saul Kirsch covered all of the important base aspects. Starting from preparing the equipment, extending to basic techniques such as weapons handling, balance and breathing as well as movement between shooting positions, up to basics of mental attitude towards competitions, all basics where covered in theory as well as in practice. Not few of the participating shooters were surprised that the practice-part started with precision drills which Saul considers to be especially important. Especially those many anecdotes Saul had to tell from all his years of IPSC experience made the techniques and hints very clear and entertaining. Not the least, a big help were his pedagogical skills which Saul amassed in more than 10 years of being an active shooter and training with the Israeli Olympic team in rifle shooting. The diverse 8-hours course was divided into theory, dry-practice and supervised shooting training where Saul was always considered to letting everyone learn at his own pace and according to his current state of skill. Also, there was always time to respond to individual questions. Besides from his basic course "Technical 101" (conducted in perfect English), Saul Kirsch offers the "Tech-Mental", "Tech-Tactical", as well as custom tailored training units according to demand and budget. For the fee of 120,- Euro, every participant is able to achieve valuable experiences which could otherwise only be gained by intensive training and years of competition experience. The opinion of the ten participants is best mirrored in the fact that every single one signed up for the next course right away. |
